You may have heard the name sea moss or Irish moss before, and always wondered what it is. When you search for it on Google, it doesn’t look like something you’d consume. But a lot of times, the best things that are good for your body don’t have the best visual appeal to them. Sea Moss is a perfect example and is something you should definitely have in your diet.
Sea Moss is exactly what it sounds like, an algae from the sea. It can be heavily found along the Atlantic Coast of Europe and North America. It’s historically well known in the Caribbean and in Ireland. It’s more of a supplement than a food, you’re not going to making a Sea Moss dish, you would want to make into a tea or gel. You can boil it down to extract its properties or blend it with water for it to make a gel substance.
Along with it containing vitamins, it contains of 92 of 102 minerals the human body consists of, which why it is frequently categorized as a “superfood”. Those vitamins and minerals can help with your skin, bones, hair, immunity, and more. Because it does have that ocean taste to it, so the convenient way to consume it is to soak it in water for about 48 hours to remove excess particles and then after rinsing it you can blend it with water to make the gel. You can use a tablespoon or 2 of that gel to blend with smoothies, soups, coffee, tea, etc.
You can find sea moss in your local health food store, possibly in a supermarket, and definitely online such as on Amazon. There’s purple and gold sea moss, where the gold sea moss is sun bleached which is why it has that color. The gold sea moss is said to have more nutritional value to it, but you can’t go wrong with either the purple or gold. Pick up some sea moss when you have the chance and your body won’t regret it.
